Arundel

Donna Buttarazzi

Cub Scouts from Pack 330 in Arundel were out in the community last Saturday collecting non-perishables and cash donations for their annual food drive, Scouting for Food. The total amount of food collected was 346 pounds, an increase of just over 100 pounds from last year. Through your generous donations the Scouts also collected a total of $317.25 in cash donations. This will certainly help with the making of the Thanksgiving baskets for the upcoming season. The food will be delivered to the food pantry at St. Martha Church in Kennebunk, where Arundel residents who need assistance will have food available. Thanks to all who made this food drive a success!

Planning Board

The next meeting of the Arundel Planning Board will be today at 7 p.m. in the Firehouse Meeting Room on the Limerick Road. In new business, the board will review sketch plans for Fritz’s Timeless Classics, a retail business and restaurant proposed on the Portland Road. They will also set a date for a site walk for Arundel Estates, a proposed 10-lot cluster subdivision on the Lombard Road. In old business, the board will review plans for additions to Bentley’s Saloon and Restaurant on Route 1, and the proposed 11-lot cluster subdivision, Fairway Drive, off the Limerick Road.

The board will not meet on Nov. 24 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving Baskets

Thanksgiving Baskets may be requested beginning Oct. 17. The baskets consist of a turkey (for families), chicken (for individuals) and all the trimmings. The Social Services office will be taking requests until Nov. 16 so if you know of a family or senior citizen in town that could use a little help, or are in need of a little help yourself, call Wendy in the Arundel Social Services office at 985-4201.

Project Pilgrim

Project Pilgrim is an annual Thanksgiving dinner to ensure that all members of our community enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner in the company of others. The volunteer staff prepares and serves a festive dinner, delivers dinners to the homes of community members and recipients of Meals on Wheels, and also transports guests to the dinner held at St. Martha’s Parish Hall on Thanksgiving Day. If you are interested in this program, call Wendy in the Arundel Social Services office at 985-4201.
